Annemarie Palincsar (Inducted 2018)

Biographical Statement
Annemarie Palincsar is the Jean and Charles Walgreen Jr. Chair of Reading and Literacy, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, and a teacher educator at the University of Michigan. Annemarie’s primary research interest is in sense making and knowledge building with multiple media, especially in the context of project-based scientific inquiry.
She has served on a number of National Research Council study groups, including Preventing Reading Difficulties in Young Children, Preparing Future Teachers,and How People Learn: Volume II. She has been active in professional organizations, serving as a member of the Literacy Research Panel for the International Reading Association (IRA), executive board member for the National Academy of Education, and member-at-large for the American Educational Research Association.
She is a member of the National Academy of Education and is an American Educational Research Association Fellow. Annemarie completed her doctorate at the University of Illinois.
