Robert M. Wilson was Professor Emeritus, University of Maryland, where he served as Director of the Reading Clinic for many years. He was one of the founders of College Reading Association (now Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers) and served as President in 1970-71. He was one of the leading founders of the State of Maryland IRA Council. He published several widely used books that focus on teaching students by identifying their strengths. These books included Diagnostic and Remedial Reading for Classroom and Clinic; Reading and the Elementary School Child andReading Comprehension in the Elementary School.
